This term we will be inquiring into the natural world, its laws and our rights and responsibilities in sharing the planet.

To complement this inquiry we will be visiting the Melbourne Zoo on Wednesday 9th May. Students will be participating in a session on ‘Life Cycles’ whilst at the zoo. More information on this excursion will be available soon.
PMP-Perceptual Motor Program
Week 2 of Term 2 will see the commencement of the Prep PMP Program (Perceptual Motor Program). PMP will take place each Monday afternoon from 2.30pm-3.30pm in the gym. The primary objectives of PMP are to assist each student in acquiring efficient movement, to promote improved sensory functioning, and the development of a positive self-image. The main areas PMP focuses on improving are: balance skills, loco motor skills, hand-eye and foot-eye coordination, body and space awareness and language skills. In order for this program to run efficiently we require the assistance of parents to help run the activities. There will be a roster placed in the courtyard and we encourage you to please sign up if you have a free Monday afternoon. It is important that you place your name on the sign up sheet as the teachers need to keep a record of all helpers, as well as sign in at the office with Julie. Although PMP will start at 2.30pm we would greatly appreciate if you could arrive at the gym at 2.15pm to help set up activities and read the activity cards.
Ways you can Help Us
We again seek your assistance with our Play and Inquiry Based Learning Sessions that take place each morning from 9.15am-10.30am (9.45am-10.30am Tues). Again it is important that you place your name on the sign up sheet located outside your child’s classroom as the teachers need to keep a record of helpers to the classroom, as well as sign in at the office with Julie.
There will be pencil sharpeners located in the courtyard between Annette and Amanda’s rooms as well as just inside the door of Luisa’s class. If you happen to get to school a few minutes early to collect your child we would greatly appreciate if you could nip in and grab some pencils from our classrooms to sharpen. Such a menial task but one that the teachers greatly appreciate being done for the students! : )
Singing with ‘Ms Maureen’
The three Prep grades will be singing songs together on Thursday afternoons with Maureen Whitehead. Maureen has been a special part of our Prep program at PHPS for many years. The songs they will be learning are composed by Maureen who has a wide experience teaching music to young children. The children will be involved in performing these much loved songs at the whole school assembly at various times throughout the year.
