Learning Frequently Used Words at Home

On Tuesday we will be providing the students with a booklet of the 100  Frequently Used Words. This booklet is to come to school each day in your child's take home book folder.
As we learn new words at school we will highlight them in the booklets and encourage you to help the children develop automatic recall through discussion and play at home. You may like to look for these words in books that you share at home or in other environmental print (such as billboards, mail and newspapers).
As the 'Golden' and 'Red' words make up 1/3 of  all words used in reading they provide an important starting point.
The words can be reproduced onto cards to be used for games. We will regularly feature new games on the blog. We encourage you to continue engaging in alphabet letter recognition discussions and games as well as these word games.
