This week during our student wellbeing session, students were introduced to some new friends. These came in the form of 7 soft toy characters. Accompany these characters are kimochis. Kimochi is a Japanese term for 'feelings'. Kimochis are what come inside each character. They are small pillows with a feeling (happy, sad, silly, brave...) printed on one side and a corresponding facial expression on the other. Each character has a special pocket where students can get in touch with their emotions in a fun and comfortable way through puppetry and play.
This week students got to know the character Cat. Cat is persuasive, a good leader but sometimes bossy. Cat can be prickly on the outside but has a soft centre. They read a book about Cat and discussed how others may be feeling when Cat becomes a bit bossy.
A corner has been set up to display the Kimochi characters. This is located outside Room 13 if you would like to see them.
